Four decades on Station Road.
In 1986, Parmanand 'Pappu' Batheja opened Sony Sales — a 400 sq. ft. store at Dabholkar Corner, Station Road, Kolhapur — selling tyres and bicycles. As India moved from pedals to engines, Pappu saw the shift early and pivoted to tyres full-time. By 1990, Sony Sales became Sony Tyres.
That same year, Sony Tyres became Kolhapur's first authorised CEAT dealer — a partnership that continues to this day. Soon after, dealerships with JK and TVS followed in the early 1990s. What earned these brands' trust was the same thing that earned customers' trust: no shortcuts, no compromises.
Today, that 400 sq. ft. store has grown into a 3,000 sq. ft. showroom — still on Station Road, still family-run. Sony Tyres is now an authorised dealer for 9 premium brands with complete tyre and wheel-care services. Balance at the First Sign of Vibration
Hard pothole impacts can jar the small balancing weights right off your wheels. Get your wheels balanced every 5,000 km or the moment you feel a steering wheel shudder at highway speeds (usually between 80–100 km/h). Why it matters: Proper balancing eliminates steering vibrations, protects expensive suspension components from premature wear, and ensures a smooth ride.
Align After Major Pothole Hits
Rough tarmac and unavoidable deep craters throw your vehicle’s wheel angles out of alignment. Check your alignment every 5,000 km, or immediately if your car "pulls" to the left or right on a straight road.
